HTML question
Okay, I really don't know how to explain this. Im new to this community and not all that new to HTML, but I still get confused on it. I was going through random journals and saw this one journal tha had a still picture and on the side they had their journal inside a box like. It was a box inside a box. I was wondering, if you understand what i'm saying and if anyone could help me if they do, i'd really appreciate it. Thanks

Well I can try ^_^.

There are a number of different ways that I've seen to do this, but the way that I did it was using a ilayered textarea. Read about them under "Textarea Allowing HTML" here:
http://www.funky-chickens.com/tarea.shtml

As you can see on that page, you can adjust the width and the height as well as the background color (which you could make transparent if you wanted). Then you can add the colored scrollbar code in the style section of the div tag, along with align=left to make it along the left hand side.

If you mess around with it enough, I'm sure you could get it the way you want to ^_^.

I've also heard that there is a way to do it with inline frames (http://www.lissaexplains.com/frames.shtml#inline) but I haven't figured out how to do that.

Anyway, I hope that helps. Since you know some HTML, it shouldn't be too difficult. ^_^

I just hope it works ^_^

You could also ask [Bad username in LJ tag] because he has that same thing on his journal and his coding could work better than what I use.

Well that depends on where you want the background to be. You could put the code in the div tag right after the ilayer and then make the background on your entries transparent, or you could put it behind the actual entries themselves.

But in either case, the code is:
background-image:url(http://image.url);
and you stick it in the style="" part of the div or table or td tag.

Anyway, sorry that that's all kinda vague, but it's really just one of those things where once you know the code you just play around with it until you get it the way you want. Hope that helps ^_^
